Great and cheap meat: Indoguna Meat Shop

We went there the first time last week and I was back again today.

Not sure if you realised but groceries are considerably pricey in Jakarta; as compared to the overall living standard.  I find that meat in Ranch Market and even Carrefour/Lottemart to be more expensive than Singapore. And less fresh.

And thank goodness we found Indoguna through Ana's blog and can attest that it was a great recommendation as the prices were almost half of Ranch Market and twice as fresh. It is not a big shop but you can find most of the cuts you want (beef), some lamb, salmon, mackerel and sometimes even lobster! So this is definitely the place to go to if you want some great and cheap meat in Jakarta!

Apparently Indoguna supplies to all the major supermarkets here, hence the lower price; and I've checked out that they do also have a presence in Singapore.

Entrance of the meat shop.

Some of the purchases today.
I've got 6x ribeyes, 2x tenderloins, 0.5kg ground beef, salmon patties, some chips and the total bill only came up to be 680,000IDR (60+ USD~).

Isn't this great?! Go check it out yourself!

  1. Thanks for sharing! Have you tried the meatshop @ Bali Deli supermarket in Blok M Pasaraya? I was there recently shopping for Indonesian handicrafts and came across this newly opened meatshop. We bought the wagyu and salmon and they are very fresh. The staff told us that the meatshop is owned by a meat distributor. And the supermarket has a lot of imported products (and wine too!). A good place to shop for your dinner.

Ikkousha Japanese Ramen in Jakarta

We were craving for something soupy the other day; Indonesian food is mostly fried. We decided to check out the ramen store- Ikkousha. We went to the branch in Senayan City but they have couple of outletsIt is supposed to be a franchise from renowned ramen chain in Japan. I was feeling a bit skeptical of halal ramen-  you know great ramen broth is usually stewed from pork bones. The ambience is pretty nice and its attempt to make it look japanese is not bad. Miso Ramen Some spicy egg broth ramen, surprisingly tasty! Chicken Karage The outcome? I was surprised that it was pretty good! Of course it lacks the oomfph of the usual thick pork broth but they got the taste as well as the ramen right. I found the spicy egg broth really delicious and satiable to my soup craving; it's quite spicy though. The prices are also reasonable, costing about 80,000IDR (8USD) per bowl. Since we live only couple minutes away, we will definitely be coming back here quite regula...

Facial Treatment at Miracle Aesthetic Clinic (Kemang, Jakarta)

I am sure those who frequent Kemang will not fail to see the big white building with a huge signage- Miracle Aesthetic Clinic. For those who follow my blog, you will know that I am always on a lookout for a nice spa or beauty/facial places. Just as I was about to check out the clinic, Miracle Aesthetic Clinic dropped me a note to try out their treatments; great timing isn't it? :) Many of us will probably be very skeptical about trying aesthetic treatments in Jakarta or anywhere in Indonesia, after all Jakarta is not famous like Bangkok for beauty treatments. So on the Saturday before I left Jakarta for our holiday, I dragged Hubby G with me to check out Miracle Aesthetic Clinic. They offered a consultation before trying any treatments including facial. I met one of the aesthetic doctors and she took me through the list of available treatments the clinic offers- Botox, Fillers, IPL, Facial, etc. As usual, the cynical me checked with the doctor if the products are legitimate and...

Weekend brunch: Tana Merah Coffee Shop, Jakarta

My Indonesian girlfriend and I decided to check out this cafe- Tana Merah Coffee Shop for brunch last Saturday. Tana Merah Coffee Shop is located near Thamrin City amongst a row of shophouses. It is quite hard to find if you are going there for the first time. Just give the cafe a call (like we did) and they will give you or your driver precise directions to the cafe. This post will have lots of foodporn! Yay! For once, I made a conscious effort to take pictures of the food before digging into it. The reason I can't be a food blogger (despite I am such a foodie!) is that I can barely have the discipline to take pictures of all the delicious yummy dishes before I already poked one of my utensils in. Upon entering the cafe. Situated amonst a row of shophouses. I eyed the next table's order and the sandwiches looked great so I decided to order one for myself. My friend went for the french toast. The food presentation (for Jakarta standards) was pretty good and th...
