Jakarta Nightlife: E & O Bistro Bar

I suggested to G that we should go clubbing...however backed out as I was feeling too tired after a long day. We decided that we should still do something on a Saturday night and stop behaving like an old married couple- like surf some net, make out and then sleep. As we didn't do any prior research of where to go, we headed down to concierge and asked them for some recommendations which are nearby. Couple minutes later... we are at E & O (Easter & Oriental), just across the street and also one of the hippest places downtown. How did we missed it? Staying just a block away?! Beats me sometimes. Anyway, I decided to skip beer this week and try a cocktail. I asked the bartender to make me something according to my preference- like not too sweet or sour. Hidden Drinking Place: Happy Cow

A friend invited us to this place; we would otherwise never have found it. I was initially seduced by the 'barbecue buffet' however was disappointed when the food ran out within an hour( all I got was some fries)! The place was pleasant in a way because it was so unexpected. When I stepped foot into the area, it felt as though I've been let into a little secret. There was a live band playing which added to the ambience. I don't mean to be critical but you can't expect fantastic singing skills though. The owner was really friendly; making his rounds, introducing himself and occasionally cracking jokes. There was a mini pool right in the middle where I think only kids would find appealing to take a dip or unless one is really drunk. I mean it is a nice touch to have a cute lit pool but I think it is really just for aesthetics purposes? Little bustling place. Children playing in the pool while their parents enjoy some beer.
