Facial Treatment at Miracle Aesthetic Clinic (Kemang, Jakarta)

I am sure those who frequent Kemang will not fail to see the big white building with a huge signage- Miracle Aesthetic Clinic. For those who follow my blog, you will know that I am always on a lookout for a nice spa or beauty/facial places. Just as I was about to check out the clinic, Miracle Aesthetic Clinic dropped me a note to try out their treatments; great timing isn't it? :)

Many of us will probably be very skeptical about trying aesthetic treatments in Jakarta or anywhere in Indonesia, after all Jakarta is not famous like Bangkok for beauty treatments. So on the Saturday before I left Jakarta for our holiday, I dragged Hubby G with me to check out Miracle Aesthetic Clinic. They offered a consultation before trying any treatments including facial. I met one of the aesthetic doctors and she took me through the list of available treatments the clinic offers- Botox, Fillers, IPL, Facial, etc.

As usual, the cynical me checked with the doctor if the products are legitimate and I was thrilled to find out that they only carry US-certified products for e.g Juvederm, Restylane, Botox. Yay, I now know where to go for botox after I give birth; I did it in Singapore as it helps to curb my bruxism. The only thing is that I am pregnant now so I wouldn't risk doing any of these treatments so I opted for a facial treatment- Hydra Balancing Facial Treatment (~750,000 idr/ 75usd) which was recommended by the doctor for my skin type (normal-dry skin).

Ambience

I was led to the facial room which...to be frank, I wasn't very impressed with. I guess I have been too spoiled from all the nice balinese spas which has amazing interior designs. From the overall
interior that greeted me in the lobby, I would have expected the facial treatment room to be more uplifting/relaxing? The room would probably do better with a touch of warm lighting as well as some decor on the walls perhaps. Currently it looks too clinical for spa treatments, however the pro is that the room was kept and maintained very clean.

Service

Alright interior decor aside, I was very impressed with other aspects. The facial therapist was extremely friendly and considerate. She was the only therapist (out of so many spas I've tried in Jakarta) who noticed that I am pregnant lol...and offered me a cushion to support my back during the treatment. What a big difference this makes for a pregnant woman! I felt so much more comfortable to lay ninety minutes on my back.

Professionalism

The treatment started with the usual cleansing and then a light peel for exfoliation before extraction. The therapist showed me the extraction tools which were new and sealed in sterile packs before she began the extraction. Every customer are being served with a new set of extraction tools. Really impressive hygiene level for Jakarta standards! Oh and I forgot to mention..the therapist wore gloves throughout the whole treatment.

The extraction process began and then I laid still, anticipating for the pain. A minute passed. Mmmm...no pain? I continued to wait for the stab. Nothing. I could feel the therapist diligently and furiously removing my substantial amount of blackheads (Jakarta is very polluted...my pores just get clogged up so quickly) however the only discomfort I felt was just occasional pricks here and there. Finally she was done with clearing out my clogged skin and passed me a mirror to look at my face before she proceeded with the next step- the hydrating mask.

Wow the least painful and cleanest extraction I ever had!

Ninety minutes quickly passed and the therapist cleaned off the super thick mask off me; And my skin felt so clean and supple (refer to the unglam picture I posted above), the redness after extraction was also very minimal.

I think I've found the best facial treatment place in Jakarta. If you have read my previous posts, you would know I have been a fan of Martha Tilaar Spa's facial treatments(read review here) but now it seems like I have a new fave. To make things easier for you, I'll do a quick comparison below.

Facial Treatment: Miracle Aesthetic Clinic VS Martha Tilaar Spa

Now after comparing my two favourite facial places, you would probably realise that each have their own attractive factors. If you are not as price sensitive, I would highly recommend you to try the facial treatment at Miracle Aesthetic Clinic at least once. I was extremely pleased with how my skin felt and looked after the treatment.

I plan to try other treatments like IPL, botox, etc in Miracle Clinic after I give birth and will write about them! So stay tuned!

Ikkousha Japanese Ramen in Jakarta

We were craving for something soupy the other day; Indonesian food is mostly fried. We decided to check out the ramen store- Ikkousha. We went to the branch in Senayan City but they have couple of outletsIt is supposed to be a franchise from renowned ramen chain in Japan. I was feeling a bit skeptical of halal ramen-  you know great ramen broth is usually stewed from pork bones. The ambience is pretty nice and its attempt to make it look japanese is not bad. Miso Ramen Some spicy egg broth ramen, surprisingly tasty! Chicken Karage The outcome? I was surprised that it was pretty good! Of course it lacks the oomfph of the usual thick pork broth but they got the taste as well as the ramen right. I found the spicy egg broth really delicious and satiable to my soup craving; it's quite spicy though. The prices are also reasonable, costing about 80,000IDR (8USD) per bowl. Since we live only couple minutes away, we will definitely be coming back here quite regula...

Weekend brunch: Tana Merah Coffee Shop, Jakarta

My Indonesian girlfriend and I decided to check out this cafe- Tana Merah Coffee Shop for brunch last Saturday. Tana Merah Coffee Shop is located near Thamrin City amongst a row of shophouses. It is quite hard to find if you are going there for the first time. Just give the cafe a call (like we did) and they will give you or your driver precise directions to the cafe. This post will have lots of foodporn! Yay! For once, I made a conscious effort to take pictures of the food before digging into it. The reason I can't be a food blogger (despite I am such a foodie!) is that I can barely have the discipline to take pictures of all the delicious yummy dishes before I already poked one of my utensils in. Upon entering the cafe. Situated amonst a row of shophouses. I eyed the next table's order and the sandwiches looked great so I decided to order one for myself. My friend went for the french toast. The food presentation (for Jakarta standards) was pretty good and th...

Eat@Bali: Potato Head Beach Club at Seminyak

Our friends were telling us to visit Potato Head Garage when they learnt that we were visiting Bali; the food bloggers are also raving about this place in their blogs...so we decided to check it out. Arriving ten minutes prior to Potato Head's opening hour at 11am, we were refused by the security as well as the restaurant staff to enter the restaurant. I was trying to explain that we have a toddler who was very flushed from the heat and that we would just like to take a seat in the restaurant till they can take our orders at 11am...which is like 10 minutes away... No, we can't take a seat at the restaurant while we wait and the staff wanted us (G, a pregnant woman and a young toddler) to stand under the scorching hot sun for 10 minutes until the magical clock strikes 11am. The chairs, which were in the shade were just couple steps away, and NO..WE HAVE TO STAND UNDER THE SUN WHILE WE WAIT FOR THE MAGICAL OPENING HOUR.   I thought it was pretty ridiculous. I asked fo...
