Hot Yoga In Jakarta

So I haven't done yoga since I got pregnant...which makes that about 2 years since I've exercised at all? I went back to work right after 4 months of maternity leave (that's Singapore for you; why would anyone be surprised with the low birth rate), and maybe it's all excuses but I was either too exhausted to go work out after work or I just wanted to spend time with Alex.

Anyway...since Jakarta is an embarkment of a new beginning (especially me not needing to work for the time being!), I decided that I should start a routine of good habits!

So my very first destination, alone in Jakarta is... the yoga studio called Yoga@42 which I was extremely delighted to find. They have two branches, one in Senayan and the other one in Kemang. I went to the Senayan branch which is very near to Senayan Plaza and FX mall.

Plaza Arcadia Senayan
(Don't confuse it with Plaza Senayan right across the street!)
On the left once you climb the steps to the second floor.

I signed up for the 1st timer promotion of 470,000idr ($47usd~) for a week unlimited after the first session. Each session is 90 minutes and you will be guaranteed to be sweating like a piglet during the class.

I have always loved Bikram Yoga as it is faster and more intense than your regular yoga (the slow ones tend to put me to sleep!). I also love the fact that you sweat out all the toxins; which I find very beneficial for someone like me who has very bad water retention.

If you are a first timer or haven't done yoga in a while, you will be aching quite a bit the next day but well, return for another session soon and you will feel better. I know it's unbelievable but I did feel better after returning back a day after!

And don't worry about being skimpily dressed during class. I didn't know what to expect (Indonesia being a conservative nation) so I wore more clothes than usual. You will find other ladies dressed only in bikini or sports bra.

I am gonna stay around this studio for some time, so say hi to me if you see me! Namaste!

Facial Treatment at Miracle Aesthetic Clinic (Kemang, Jakarta)

I am sure those who frequent Kemang will not fail to see the big white building with a huge signage- Miracle Aesthetic Clinic. For those who follow my blog, you will know that I am always on a lookout for a nice spa or beauty/facial places. Just as I was about to check out the clinic, Miracle Aesthetic Clinic dropped me a note to try out their treatments; great timing isn't it? :) Many of us will probably be very skeptical about trying aesthetic treatments in Jakarta or anywhere in Indonesia, after all Jakarta is not famous like Bangkok for beauty treatments. So on the Saturday before I left Jakarta for our holiday, I dragged Hubby G with me to check out Miracle Aesthetic Clinic. They offered a consultation before trying any treatments including facial. I met one of the aesthetic doctors and she took me through the list of available treatments the clinic offers- Botox, Fillers, IPL, Facial, etc. As usual, the cynical me checked with the doctor if the products are legitimate and...

Do It Yourself: Cushion Covers

Thinking of making your own unique cushion covers? Or perhaps to get rid of some leftover fabrics? Trying to spruce up your place without breaking the bank? Maybe you can try this. I decided to make my own cushion covers when I realised how expensive the home decor shops are selling them for. Like 30-50USD for a simple deisgn? If I were still in Singapore, I might pay this kind of price but being in Jakarta- where labour is cheaper? No way... I had some leftover denim fabrics but I didn't want a full denim cushion, so I went to buy some softer cotton that will match my denim. So here's how you can do your own cushion covers like I did mine. Things You Will Need: a) Fabric Scissors/Rotary Cutter b) Old Fabrics/ Some cotton c) An Invisible Zipper d) Sewing Machine e) Serger (Optional) f) Measuring tapes/rulers/chalks 1. Find a combination of fabrics you want to play with or just to stick to one fabric is fine as well. Take down the measurement of your cushion...
