Dinner at Union (Plaza Senayan Courtyard)

After almost an hour of traffic, we arrived at Super Steak. To our dismay, it was closed...

Due to my sudden dyslexia, I didn't spot that it was listed on the website that the restaurant is closed on Monday. *Angst* Needed a quick plan change since we were on a cab; we headed to Union at Plaza Senayan which was nearby.

Union is highly raved in Tripadvisor and some online portals, hence I was looking forward to some good food.

Tucked away in Departmental Store Sogo. 1st Floor.

Nice interior and ambience.

Melon & Mint Smoothie. Looks unassuming but taste like everything. Amazing.

Crispy Pork Belly with Mustard Vinaigrette. Beef Burger. Tiramisu.

Ambience

Lovely. We noticed that there's more females than males in the restaurant. Perhaps the assortment of sweets and cocktails are more appealing to us, the sweeter gender *snicker*. The decor is tastefully done in classy oakwood and the lights are dimmed nicely. The place was bustling; great if you like to be out there and people-watch. The decor reminded us of another restaurant- Loewy which is at Mega Kuningan.

Food Quality

Not blown away as it's expected from the steeper price point in local context. I loved the smoothie and Tiramisu. I liked the wings but G found it nothing special. We weren't very impressed with the mains; or perhaps our choices of mains are not the popular dishes. The Pork Belly was nice however I started to feel a little sick once I got to the third slice. I would recommend you to share this dish although it's a main.

Service

Service was average. The servers were not as attentive as we expected them to be in such a restaurant.

Price

The bill was about 750,000idr (about 75usd), inexpensive as compared to the western countries and countries like Singapore however leaning towards steep for the locals.

Overall

7/10. We would definitely return again with friends and order more variety for sharing. Great spot to people watch for amusement. ;)

Manicure/Pedicure In Jakarta and Where to Go

I don't know if I am being overly critical or just plain fussy but I find that manicure and pedicure services in Jakarta are not up to par as compared to the other Asian cities like Bangkok, HongKong, and even Singapore! And by all means, the services aren't cheap as compared to overall standard of living locally. To have manicure/pedicure at somewhat a decent place with clean tools usually starts at 220,000 idr (22usd)...and you are not guaranteed OPI or internationally known brands. Nail salons at shopping malls will set you back about 450,000idr (45usd/52sgd)- funny how manicure in Jakarta cost the same in Singapore. Whoever said Jakarta is cheap?! Once, I accompanied my friend to a salon at Kemang where she wanted to have a hairwash and blowdry and I decided to have a manicure/pedicure there while waiting for her. Kado- Yakitori Restaurant at Intercontinental Hotel MidPlaza Jakarta

I had a huge Yakitori craving last week, and my friends suggested me to check out Kado at Intercontinental Hotel MidPlaza. Kado is apparently quite very famous for Yakitori in Jakarta and very popular with the Japanese travellers and expats. Hubby G and I had already tried couple of Yakitori places in Jakarta however we only found them pretty average; we certainly hoped Kado would be ' the Yakitori place' to go to.
