List of Diaper Changing Stations and Nursing Rooms in Singapore

List of Diaper Changing Stations in Singapore Malls:

Taken from Baby Centre: (with additional comments on the ones I've tried)

1. BHG

Bugis 230 Victoria Street, Level 3

Pros:Cons:
• Spacious layout, with ample room for strollers.
• Two nursing cubicles.
• Separate diapering station.
• Hot water available.
• Wash basin available.
• Bench and chairs for waiting dads/siblings.
• Nursing cubicles only have curtains, no lockable doors.
Su Huay says:
"I felt like I had stumbled upon a gem with this nursing room, since the mall is off the usual Orchard path. It's spacious, so there’s lots of room for strollers. There is enough seating for dads as they wait."

Mummynista's view:
The changing stations are indeed huge however it looks a little rundown and dirty. Perhaps I am being slightly particular, I don't feel secure changing my baby's diapers there even if I place a mat on top of the station. However one just have to make do with it if baby is really fussing to get his diaper changed!

2. Centrepoint

176 Orchard Road, family rooms on Levels 3 and 6; diaper stations on Level 2 in the women's washroom and Levels 2, 3 and 4 in the men's washrooms

Pros:Cons:
• Family rooms are available on different levels.
• Benches available in the nursing cubicle.
• More than one diapering station in each family room.
• Spacious layout so that a few families can make use of the diapering section at the same time, with strollers in as well.
• Has extra seating - chairs and benches, great for waiting siblings/parents.
• Wash basin available.
• Hot water dispenser available.
• Extra diaper stations are available in the women's and men's washrooms.
• Some mothers prefer to breastfeed privately, but the communal benches in the nursing area mean that you share that space.
Daphne shares:
"I express breastmilk for my baby while I'm at work. There isn't anywhere convenient for me to pump at the office, so at lunch time, I head to Centrepoint and do my thing! It's been an important ally in helping me to keep up with my pumping. It's a great space, big enough for a few families plus strollers to all get in at the same time."

3. Compass Point

1 Sengkang Square, Level 4

Pros:Cons:
• Two nursing rooms with lockable doors.
• Two diaper changing stations.
• Can accommodate two to four families at one time.
• Wash basin available.
• Nursing room can be a bit of a squeeze if you, your husband, baby and stroller are all in at once.
Fei Fei says:
"The nursing room is very nicely decorated, with a beautiful mural of animals on the wall. Makes diaper changing more interesting for my baby, I guess! I also like the side-by-side nursing rooms. It means that if I need to pump, I can do it privately, while another mum can nurse her baby in the other room."

4. Great World City

1 Kim Seng Promenade, family room, Basement 1; a small diaper and nursing room on Level 1

Pros:Cons:
• Most mums voted this family room the best looking and most comfortable one in town.
• Two separate nursing rooms, with lockable doors. Each room has a small table and armchair.
• Able to push stroller into nursing rooms.
• Two fairly large changing tables.
• Wash basin available.
• Hot water dispenser.
• Electric point/socket.
• The central air-conditioning means it can get quite cold at times in the nursing cubicles.
• Many shop employees go in and out of the family room to access hot water and wash their cups/dishes
Wei Ling comments:
"I love this family room! It's decorated nicely and well thought out. The separate nursing rooms means I can get the privacy I need when breastfeeding. The rooms aren't that big, but you can still get your stroller in. The lighting in the nursing room is soft and muted, very cosy.

However, you do get a constant stream of mall employees going in and out of the family room. I've even seen someone taking a snooze on the nursing chair!"

5. ION Orchard

2 Orchard Turn, every level except Basement 3

Pros:Cons:
• Spacious enough for strollers.
• Available on most floors.
• Hot water dispenser.
• Bottle warmer available.
• Wash basins available.
• A tower fan next to the nursing chair to help keep mums cool.
• Not the most comfortable nursing chair.
• One family at a time as the diaper station and the nursing chairs share the same space with no division.
Evelyn says:
"The family rooms at ION are out of this world. The sink, water dispenser and bottle warmers are a plus, but the fan right next to the nursing chair is the best part! The diaper station and nursing chair share the same space though. That means that if someone's using that room, you will have to go look for another one.

I must add on about the women's washrooms. There are two cubicles that are big enough for mums to get their strollers in. There are also child seats (mounted on the wall) which can help keep Junior out of trouble while Mummy sees to some business!"

Mummynista's view:
I just checked this out recently with baby and it's so lovely! I went to the one at level 4 which is empty most of the time and needless to say, really clean. It is a room on its own, big enough for strollers and 2-3 people inside. You can even lock the room for some privacy when you nurse.

6. Paragon

290 Orchard Road, Level 3 and 5

Pros:Cons:
• Newly renovated.
• At level 5, the breastfeeding and diapering areas are separated.
• Hot water dispenser available.
• Wash basin available.
• Gets very busy on weekends.
• Level 3 has only one changing station, and the nursing and diapering station share the same space.
Tracy shares:
"The baby rooms at Paragon are quite comfortable. On the fifth floor, the diapering area is separate from the breastfeeding cubicle. There is also more than one changing station on this floor. The one on the third floor only has one diapering station. Both baby rooms have hot water dispensers, and are located in a quiet corner, near the women's washrooms."

Mummynista's view:
The most frequent diaper room by me would be this although I find it highly annoying that the changing rooms are not on every floor. The diaper changing station is spacious although it can get quite busy during the weekends. The breastfeeding room can get bit stuffy though as it is pretty small. Overall it is clean and functional.

7. Raffles City

252 North Bridge Road, Level 3 and Basement 1

Pros:Cons:
• Can take a few families at a time.
• Hot water dispenser.
• Wash basin available.
• Toilet paper under each diaper station.
• Seating for waiting siblings/parents.
• There is a big family washroom in the basement facility: a toilet for parents and a kiddie loo.
• Nursing chair in Level 3 isn't very comfortable.
• Only one nursing room on Level 3.
• Gets extremely busy on weekends.
Reena shares:
"Kudos to Raffles City for the facilities in the basement. There is a toilet cubicle that has a wall-mounted chair to keep my child secure while I use the facility. I like the family room too, which has a kid's toilet and diapering station in one space. It's also well kept and clean."

8. Takashimaya

391 Orchard Road, Level 3

Pros:Cons:
• Large diapering area, a few families at a time.
• Each diaper station has a changing mat.
• Separate nursing cubicle with benches (curtain drawn).
• Seating for waiting siblings/parents.
• Hot water dispenser available.
• Wash basin available.
• High chairs available if your toddler needs a meal.
• A breastfeeding supporter/advisor is available on Fridays and Saturdays.
• Shared nursing area, no private cubicles.
Aleesa comments:
"The best bit about Taka's changing room is that at least five to six families can get on with diapering at the same time! It's a large area, plenty of space for strollers. There are also waiting benches for dads or siblings.

The nursing room is rather small though, with only a short bench and one chair. You can't push your stroller in there, or no one else can share that space."

9. Tanglin Mall

163 Tanglin Road, Level 3

Pros:Cons:
• Renovated and decorated nicely.
• Has two nursing cubicles, with lockable doors.
• Hot water dispenser available.
• Wash basin available.
• Two diaper stations in a row.
• Roomy enough for strollers.
• Comfortable nursing chairs.
• The air-conditioning makes the nursing rooms rather chilly.
• Getting past the main door is a bit of challenge with a stroller. A tight corner and heavy door call for expert maneuvering.
Jillian says:
"Ever since Tanglin Mall renovated its nursing room, it's been one of my favourite ones in town. The nursing rooms are done up nicely, and the nursing chairs are comfortable.

My only gripe: it's freezing cold in the nursing cubicles! The air-conditioning must be set to north pole temperatures in there!"

10. United Square

101 Thomson Road, Level 1

Pros:Cons:
• Three separate nursing cubicles with lockable doors.
• Hot water available.
• Wash basin available.
• Comfortable nursing chairs.
• Seating area for waiting dads/siblings.
• Nice, soft lighting.
• Spacious enough for you to get strollers in.
• Gets really busy on weekends.
• Mall employees access the room to get hot water.
Nur comments:
"This mall is truly catered for families, with so many children’s stores and enrichment centres under one roof. No surprises then that their family room is geared for nursing mums too. The diapering and nursing rooms are separated, which is a good thing. There are shelves in the nursing cubicles for personal items, a nice touch.

It sees high traffic on weekends, of course, but it's still a lovely family room."

Manicure/Pedicure In Jakarta and Where to Go

I don't know if I am being overly critical or just plain fussy but I find that manicure and pedicure services in Jakarta are not up to par as compared to the other Asian cities like Bangkok, HongKong, and even Singapore! And by all means, the services aren't cheap as compared to overall standard of living locally. To have manicure/pedicure at somewhat a decent place with clean tools usually starts at 220,000 idr (22usd)...and you are not guaranteed OPI or internationally known brands. Nail salons at shopping malls will set you back about 450,000idr (45usd/52sgd)- funny how manicure in Jakarta cost the same in Singapore. Whoever said Jakarta is cheap?! Once, I accompanied my friend to a salon at Kemang where she wanted to have a hairwash and blowdry and I decided to have a manicure/pedicure there while waiting for her. The girl/manicurist came with a large plastic container (like the ones you store miscellaneous stuff in the wardrobe/storeroom) and inside it, the tools and ...

Prenatal Massage at Mom N Jo

The joys of pregnancy does not just stop at morning sickness. 2nd trimester arrives and say hello to Mr Backache! Oh you didn't experience either morning sickness nor backaches? Go away! You shouldn't even be reading this post..Just kidding! On a more serious note, most pregnant women like myself will start to feel aches around the body once 2nd trimester hits. The increased weight from the belly adds more pressure to our backs as well as legs, hence the aches begin. And for me, the need to gag into the toilet bowl at least twice a day causes my neck and shoulders to ache too. Yes I know, I feel like I've aged fifty years being pregnant. However as much as we need the comforts of a massage, one can't just step into any massage place now. Firstly we can't lie face down anymore...duh! Hence we need massages that are tailored for us while we lie sideways which means options are kind of limited. I decided to check with my good friend once again, Mr Google and ta...

Kado- Yakitori Restaurant at Intercontinental Hotel MidPlaza Jakarta

I had a huge Yakitori craving last week, and my friends suggested me to check out Kado at Intercontinental Hotel MidPlaza. Kado is apparently quite very famous for Yakitori in Jakarta and very popular with the Japanese travellers and expats. Hubby G and I had already tried couple of Yakitori places in Jakarta however we only found them pretty average; we certainly hoped Kado would be ' the Yakitori place' to go to. Tucked at a corner of the basement of Intercontinental Hotel Midplaza. Located at the basement of Intercontinental Hotel MidPlaza, Kado wasn't what I had expected of a restaurant in a hotel. It looks like a family-run Japanese eatery(though belonging a chain of restaurants), unassuming and easily missed- definitely not your usual high end intimidating hotel restaurants. This place is good for anyone who just want to come casually dressed and enjoy an easy evening with family and friends. The manager/chef is a very friendly Japanese lady and almost a...
